Some garden activities are boring. They are awful. They are the activities that, when our partners shout down the stairs “Can you do this please?” our hearts sink, our eyes roll and we begrudgingly say “yes dear.” The one that hurts the most though is “Can you mow the lawn please?” The reason for that is two fold; first of all it’s boring as hell. The main reason, though, is that many of us still have older lawnmowers. You know the kind; the ones that don’t turn properly, that have long obtrusive wires and are loud and horrible to control.
Once you have dug out the old thing you look at your oddly shaped lawn and try your best to plan your attack. Do you go in straight lines? Do you try your best to go around the angles of your garden? Do you need to dig out your old, rusty trimmer to do those bits? As you begin you start cursing why you don’t have a perfectly square garden that you would be done within a few short minutes.
